Riding for the Disabled (Woodbridge & District Group) are looking for an experienced equine person to look after the day-to-day care/welfare and management of our dedicated riding for the disabled horses and ponies, based in Clopton near Woodbridge.

Ideally, we are looking for a commitment of five hours a day four days a week, but as experience and dedication are essential, we would consider more or less hours/days for the right person/people.

We currently have ten most precious horses and ponies who are all special and unique in their own personalities, giving pleasure and therapeutic exercise to our valued clients. 

The successful candidate(s) must be able to take charge of the day-to-day horse care and be confident to make decisions and deal with any issues that arise. At times you will work alongside our volunteers, so the ability to work effectively within a team is essential. 

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Monitoring and management of horse’s health.
  • Feeding
  • Turn out
  • Mucking out/field clearing
  • General yard work
  • Exercise (on the ground and ridden)
  • Clipping and trimming
  • Farrier, vet and annual check cover
  • Managing the grazing and outside areas
  • Liaising with Yard Manager regarding fitness of horses

Essential Requirements: 
  • Experience of working with and care of horses
  • Ability to communicate with people at all levels
  • Proven organisational skills
  • Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision
  • Able to demonstrate flexibility
  • Good team worker
  • Methodical approach to work
  • DBS Check/references on offer of employment
 
The role can be offered on either an employed or self-employed basis, both of which are based on a competitive salary package dependant on experience.
