Equine Groom (Maternity Cover)
We are looking for an experienced equine groom to join us in a part-time maternity cover role from October 2022 to undertake the routine care and exercise of our 12 horses and ponies. The role can be offered on either an employed or self-employed basis
Part-time: minimum 12 hours (3 mornings) a week, with opportunities for additional hours. This will include some weekend woking.
Rate of pay: £10.00 an hour on an employed basis (self-employed rates by agreement).
Paid holiday: 16.8 days a year.
The role is based at The Bays, our centre in Clopton near Woodbridge, Suffolk.
The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic individual with recent experience, who is friendly, professional, and able to work to a high standard with minimal supervision.
Duties include:
• Monitoring and management of horse’s health.
• Feeding
• Turn out
• Mucking out/field clearing
• General yard work
• Exercise (on the ground and ridden)
• Clipping and trimming
• Managing the grazing and outside areas
• Liaising with Yard Manager regarding fitness of horses
Essential Requirements:
• Experience of working with and care of horses
• Ability to communicate with people at all levels
• Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision
• Good team worker
• Methodical approach to work
Please note: no accommodation is available on-site. Applicants must have a full UK driving licence and their own transport due to our rural location. We cannot offer stabling/livery for non-RDA horses.
